Brain washed in blue

I live in a house full of boys
one grown up
and three still growing.
Friday night sees action packed movies
fighting, running, shouting
or all of the above.
A gentle kiss has met with more horror
than a full throttle battle scene
with pieces of alien creatures scattered to the wind
or brave soldiers dying slowly enough to deliver
their final significant words to friend or foe.
How many other ladies have a huge replica medieval sword
on their kitchen wall?
At more than six feet it's a little too large to be useful
as a letter opener
or
potato peeler.
I see a sea of blue
in the cupboards
jeans, jackets, t-shirts,
bed linen
even the furniture
shares the hue.
But I'm not complaining.
I love to live in this sea
and to be brain washed in blue.
